city where there was flooding they saw flooding on bike trails, parking lots up to the doorsteps of some businesses. today is expected to be the peak. king tides happen when the sun and moon align to the gravitational pull brings more water on to the shore. people knew it was happening but still surprised by the amount of water. >> there was flooding, i had no idea it was that bad. >> how long have you been riding here? >> i right everyday or try. in santa cruz, santa clara county. moderate rain in fremont and gusty winds in union city. on the peninsula, a heavy downpour and winds have lightened up here. but still some light rain. the front has yet to move through san francisco. some heavier rain on the peninsula from woodside to 280 and flooding is happening in the santa cruz mountains. we are looking at rain rates of an inch an hour and another additional inch is forecasted. take a look at these current wind gusts. you can see where the front has moved through. it is breezy and dangerous out there. and throw 10:15 we will be looking at flooding imminent, and then beyond that the creeks and the streams will be draining into the rivers, and then we are looking at the rivers rising right on through midday. carolyn? >> it is a wild morning. thank you, low saw. both eastbound lanes of the richmond san rafael bridge remain blocked by an overturned big rig right now. the chp won't even think about moving it until the winds die down. abc7 news reporter nick smith is on the bridge to update this storm-related news. >> carolyn, this is the f

this is going to be this way for a while. city officials are looking for a permanent fix that might not come until spring. look at the mess on this street that they have to cleanup, the pavement piled up in front of this home. it is going to be a while until this neighborhood gets back to normal here's a good look at the hole in the daytime this happened 8:30 yesterday morning. not only created a huge hole, but snapped off a water service line, a water main and a sewage line this happened because there was too much in the creek it plugged up the culvert that sent the water gushing on to the street and eroded the soil this is causing a headache for residents. >> bottled water, just going to the bathroom. >> it may be the case we have to wait until we have dry weather before we can do a permanent fix. this road could be closed for some time. >> reporter: it could have been worse, raw sewage almost made night the creeks, crews were able to build a bypass just before the collapse. city officials are now begging residents to please, keep the creeks clear of garbage and when they do see garbage p

a person with a gun that brought major police action to city college of san jose last night. video shows a s.w.a.t. team going floor by floor searching the locked down campus. several hours of searching, nobody was found, students were released. they say it was scary considering the shooting spree that played out last week in connecticut. police say they aren't sure if the report was a hoax or not. the caller was reporting someone else had seen a gun. >>> developing news, i-5 closed to all northbound traffic north of reading. in the last hour, we learned, 75 vehicles were involved in the massive pile-up that closed i-5 more than 10 hours a big rig slammed into the median that triggered chain reaction that stretched more than two miles several taken to the hospital, including one who had to be air-lifted to oregon. the chp doesn't know when this road will reopen. shelters are being offered to people who are stuck behind the closure. black ice and bad weather are being blamed for the accident >>> abc news has learned president obama is planning on addressing the school tragedy in newton, c
